For a truly unique experience take the trans-European train journey. Following the Eurostar journey to Paris board the overnight train, the Treno Notte. Be welcomed with a glass of wine and relax in your own cabin before you dine in the restaurant before retiring as the train glides across Europe. As you sleep you’ll rail through the Pyrenees waking up to some of the finest views of the Italian landscape. After breakfast you’ll arrive in Rome where you’ll continue you journey to your destination or transfer to your chosen hotel and start living the Mediterranean life.

Whichever you choose you can make your travel to Italy as exciting as your stay.

Italy: Mausoleum of Augustas In Rome take time to catch the tourist bus from outside Termini, this gives a good tour of the must see sights and allows you to hop on and off throughout the day to see them at your leisure. Public transport is cheap and frequent. You can buy bus, metro and tram tickets in tobacconists or at the stations and have them validated once on the bus/tram or at the stations. And don’t forget you get to take as many buses or trams as you wish within a 75 minute period as well as one metro ride!

In all cities bus tickets are available at tobacconists and are a cheap way of travelling

Train travel across Italy is reliable – the local and national trains are affordable, buy tickets from the station and have them validated at the platform before you board the train. The best thing about long distance travel is a seat reservation – you always get one, an idea the British should adopt!

There are many organised tours that you can take though public transport is easy and efficient and allows you to experience the treasures at your own pace. There are regular ferries and hydrofoils that go between the coastal towns and Islands and good local transport once there.
